You can handle short social exchanges and understand sentences related to familiar topics like shopping, local geography, and employment.

Study tips

Build on your A1 foundation by learning word families — when you learn "kaufen" (to buy), also learn "der Kauf" (purchase) and "der Käufer" (buyer). Pay attention to separable verbs; they are everywhere at this level.

Grammar focus

Past tense (Perfekt), separable and inseparable verbs, modal verbs (können, müssen, wollen), accusative and dative cases, comparative adjectives.
